Redundant Link between two Mikrotik Routers

Mon Aug 17, 2015 3:16 pm

Any help regarding the image below? I have not added any script or any complicated route, simply tried this first on RB750GL and it was working fine but now as on RB2100UiAS-RM and things are getting complicated. I think that it can be due to SFP because when it goes down from software the router get mad :)

I think never anybody tried to link 2 Mikrotik Routers this way. My need is to make redundant link between 2 Routers and only 1 link will remain active at a time, the other link will start working in case of link 1 fails. If i put 2 ports in a bridge how about it ?

Hi,

as long as the ports are configured as switch ports or bridge ports and you use STP / RSTP, you'll get the desired redundancy (and of course a loop free topology).
A more sophisticated setup would be bonding the interfaces, this way you get redundancy and more throughput.
