Supported SFP Modules

Thu Aug 20, 2015 6:36 pm

Dear Team !

We are having some weird issues with SFP Modules for CCR1036-12G-4S and RB2011UiAS-RM. We have recently purchased these routers. CCR is obviously our Core Router and RB2011 is going to be installed at one of our client office. We have to deliver 30Mbps CIR Link over fiber optic cable (Ether i am not sure that RB2011UiAS is cable to handle 35Mbps CIR Link or not) . We installed the router and inserted the SFP modules. Almost 6 hours Service was going fine and certainly fiber optic link goes down. We checked the cable physically but there was no issue in it, we tested the cable with OTDR and found no issue. Even we are receiving the signal from both end routers but they are unable to sync with each other.
We are using the Single Mode Fiber Cable and the distance is almost 6 Km. We are using some chinese brand Transceiver currently. This is to confirm from you that Mikrotik Routerboards support Bi-Directional Transceivers? Means single fiber strand for Tx/Rx purpose or we have to use 2 fiber strands 1 for Tx and 1 for RX?
We are receiving the good signal from both ends i.e -17dbm almost which is good enough for connectivity but the modules are not syncing with each other.

We come to conclusion that we should change the modules with some proper good company brand and today we received a pair of modules from our vendor i.e TP-Link SM321A and SM321B. This is not listed on the supported hardware site of Mikrotik Routerboards.

ANY IDEA WHAT CAN BE THE ISSUE ?

why not try MIKROTIK 20Km Single mode, 1.25Gb SFP Module (S-31DLC20D)

though i have used modules from another vendor on 260gsp and it worked properly.
best wishes

Hi,

Any update on this issue? I'm trying to buy a SFP module for for this model (RB2011UiAS-RM) for a client. I just want to make sure this is not going to be a problem.

Please, if possible give me an update on this issue

Thanks
