PPPT VPN to my office works, but internal names dont resolve

Mon Aug 24, 2015 1:44 am

Hi all, i really need help...

I got a VPN connection to my office working... for the most part.
but internal DNS enteries like "svn.amx.com" dont resolve
it works fine on another machine that i do a windows VPN
what am i doing wrong?
am i even getting DNS information from the vpn on this?
(i cant see where in routerOS)

when i check the windows machine that the vpn works on, it tells me the dns addresses are
10.35.101.7 & 10.35.101.251

i really would love this to work...

thanks

Where are those DNS names configured? On the router as static entries?

So then these are internal windows machine names. Windows can resolve these names only in the same broadcast domain (all devices must be in the same L2 network) or if you have WINS server.

i dont know anything about windows machine names
they are IP addresses, that my windows machine gets when it connects to the VPN
for DNS

so somewhere i need to let the router know about them.. so when dns requests come in to it, it can try em though em
