Is there a way to keep records of sites visited and bandwidth used for clients

Mon Aug 31, 2015 12:25 am

Hi,

Just wondering if there is a way to keep record of where bandwidth is used.

I am using user manager to manage clients and their bandwidth usage, I am now having an issue with certain clients wanting to know where their bandwidth has gone. I have no idea whether mikrotik is capable of doing this.

I believe this is also going to be a requirement in the future, as this seems to be being pushed through by our regulators, in the hopes to curb illegal activities online, and force providers to provide information should they be petitioned to provide the data.

I now need to find out how to do this, before it is an obligation, as it will 1 help me provide the info to the client, and 2 save me quite headache in the future if and when it becomes a requirement.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Look at /ip accounting.

It allows you to take snapshots of source address, dest address, packets and bytes.

You can also use an external tool like nTop.

IP acounting has the info, but not very readable, and I would like to be able to make a print out should a client query their usage, so this would not work.

I have ntop installed, but how do I get the flows from the mikrotik into ntop?

Enable at IP, Traffic Flow. It does output netflow v9 like traffic streams.

I have enable ip flow, but not showing on ntop.

I have setup targets, but am unsure what port to use so left it at default on mikrotik.

Is there any specific actions that need taking on the ntop side?
