CPU Usages goes to 98%

Fri Sep 29, 2006 4:03 pm

Dear Folks,

Within last few days, our CPU Usage Graphs show that the CPU usages suddenly reach 98% for a few hours, go down to 60% for a moment and back to 98% after.

Does anyone know how to check the usages of each modules ?

TIA

PD

Our cpu usage utilization normally about less than 20%, just increase since last monday.

If we cann't find which module that hungry of cpu resource, how to solve this problem ? The function of this box are mostly for rip2 routing and wireless. Only one bridge (eth1 and wlan1) added since two days ago.

will full reset or restore the last month backup will solve the problem ?

TIA

We have the same problem with bridge and eoip. When we let traffic go thru that link it goes crazy and cpu goes to 100%. but with bandwith test we get 20mbps easely.

Well... actually we have two RouterOS... the first one is an old Pentim II computer with DOM and RB44. This box fuction are for NAT and QoS; bridge just added since two days ago too... the cpu usages utilization has not ever increase yet since the first installation.

The second one is RB230 placed on top of our 36 meter high tower with the functions describes before only for routing and wireless; bridge added since two days ago. But the usages utilization problem exist since last monday. Means before we add the abive bridges.

Any way to solve this problems ?

TIA

Sept 30 at 10 morning, we just restore old configuration saved (Jul 17) and redo all additional configurations done since Jul 17, including bridge.

The temporary result is the cpu usages utilization drop back into 16% max, 8% min and average 12%.

Since the first installation around desember 2005, we've done three times system reset with regards of high cpu usages utilization.

Can someone @ mikrotik explain what can cause of high cpu usages utilization ?

You have to generate support-output file when you are experiencing the problem and send it to support@mikrotik.com

How to make that support-output file ?

Eventually, I did save all the latest configuration before doing Jul17 restore. The file size is about 195K.

The file that I restore is only 15K, after redo all additional setting become 23K.

Let me know if I have to send all config file.

'/system sup-output' wait until file generating finishes.
Download the file from the router FTP and send it to support@mikrotik.com
