level 4 license Question

Wed Sep 27, 2006 12:43 am

Not sure this is the right place to ask this, but I have resurrected an old 1.4GHz PC I had laying around, and have installed 2 Ether cards and a Wifi Card that can run as an AP, and installed RouterOS on it and have been running in the time limited mode, and all is working fine.
Now we want to buy a level 4 license so we can keep on using it.
The idea is that we will use this PC for testing and general mucking around.
My question is, if for instance we decide that we might want to upgrade the PC to another faster PC for what ever reason, Hardware Failure or what ever reason, or in my current case I might transfer it all over to a shuttle PC as its smaller, Will my Level 4 key still work?

Thanks, Jeremy

The license is "keyed" to the the hard drive. I keep a curent license on a 220 meg IDE flash drive and move it from box to box for testing and such. Not easy to move the key so pick the drive with care.

Ok, if thats the case, then I might use a Disk On Module unit and then I can plug it into any HD connector on any machine....thanks for the heads up

That is exactly what you should do.

Done....and dusted.
I was able to pick one up fairly cheap from a local hardware distributor, and then I got a Level 4 Lic. from MikroTik.

THEN....I found out the MikroTik sell them WITH RouterOS on them......sigh
