PPPoE Radius problem

Tue Oct 03, 2006 11:27 am

Hi All.
We are slowly working our way thru a list of things we want to try out with the RouterOS. One of these has been PPPoE.
I have setup PPPoE up so that if I add a user (or a secret) up I can log in no problems.
I then tell it to use Radius and it connects then disconnects straight way.
We are not using FreeRadius by the way, I have written my own Radius server as part of our software solution.
The error I get back is, "NAS Error". The user is actually authenticated and a session does start, but then the session ends because of this NAS Error which the RFC is a bit vauge about.

Anyone know what might cause this error? Also, before forget, I also tried another Radius product and it had the same issue of authenticating a user, starting a session then ending the sesson, and the error number is a NAS Error.

I am wondering if this is a config problem, or a more deep Radius issue that I need fix.

Just one more thing. Since I posted this question, I was looking in the Logs in Winbox, and I see that the probelm seems to be "Could Not Determine Local IP Address" then it disconnects....and I am not sure what this means.....in RouterOS/Radius world :-)

Thanks, Jeremy .... p.s is this the right area to put this problem? or should I have put it into one of the other topis areas?

"Could Not Determine Local IP Address"
This means, that you have no IP address assigned to the router's end of the tunnel.
You have to set "local-address" parameter in the ppp profile.
