Atheros AR8151

Thu Dec 24, 2015 6:47 am

hey guys, i was just curious to see if anyone has any information regarding the Atheros AR8151 gigabit LAN chipset and its compatibility with RouterOS?

i know that Routerboard products work with certain Atheros-based chips, but i don't see anything on the Supported Hardware list on the wiki, nor anything here on the forums regarding this particular chipset.

Great Question:

http://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/NET_V ... HEROS.html shows that
vendor: 1969 ("Qualcomm Atheros"), device: 1073 ("AR8151 v1.0 Gigabit Ethernet")
vendor: 1969 ("Qualcomm Atheros"), device: 1083 ("AR8151 v2.0 Gigabit Ethernet")

Are supported in Linux Kernels 3.17–3.19, 4.0–4.2, 4.4-rc+HEAD

Mikrotik at present provides support for Network cards supported by linux v3.3.5 kernel (PCI, PCI-X) as shown here: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RouterOS_features

I am willing to take a stab and say NO -but might be worth a simple test to make sure.

Here is the Mikrotik list of known working hardware for anyone else coming upon the thread wondering if something they are looking to use is supported as well. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported ... t_chipsets
