1100AHx2 ping times slowing

Mon Apr 04, 2016 12:13 am

Hi All,
I have an 1100AHx2 which is routing traffic for a WISP network. it is running FW3.24, processor load is peaking at 22%, average around 10%
The network is entirely routed, no bridged ports, separate IP address for each port. Traffic is typically 250Mbps via a short 1kM link from our head end, capacity of which is 600Mps.
Yesterday I noticed slow ping times to Google from the router, normally they are sub 10ms, but go to 60ms or more, with about 4% packet loss.Rebooting the router solved the problem, but it returned the next day.
The main wireless link is suffering about 0.5% -1% packet loss, which is too high I know, but I will check the link dish alignments this week as we have recently had some heavy winds.
Is it possible that this is the problem, or has anyone else found a similar problem that they have solved?

Looking at the graph it looks suspiciously like the port was only running at 100Mb!
I di dlog into theradio, as I suspected that was at fault first, but the LAN ports on the radio link saying were fine at 1Gb, however, I didnt think to look at the Mikrotik ports, I just rebooted therouter.
It hasnt happened since the weekend, even though traffic levels have surpassed the level that it dropped at. The other strange thing is the timing.
Looking back at the Dude logs, pings went unstable on the Saturday at around 1:18pm, and on the Sunday at12:55 am.
Talking to others with experience of Mikrotik, some say that this type sudden port speed drop of thing has been an issue on and off for several years now.
The other end of the link also has an identical RB100AHx2, which has had a 1GB connected to our fibre optic Cisco Backhaul source and to th ebackhaul radio and I have never seen a similar issue, its been running for a year or so with no similar issues, the only difference is the Firmware, its running 6.32.3 whereas the router that flipped is FW 6.32.4

Any ideas? Perhaps a script that could reboot the router if pings dropped?
