I plan on building a home network using one central router and multiple switches/access points. I was thinking about using:
- CRS125-24G-1S-RM (henceforth CRS125)
RB952Ui-5ac2nD (henceforth hAP ac Lite) as access points/switches
My requirements are:
1) The CRS125 is the central/only router. It handles DHCP, assigns IPs, NAT, etc. You know the drill.
2) hAP ac lites are used as dumb switches / access points. They do not create any NAT, assign any IPs. I plug a cable to them (or connect wirelessly) and the CRS125 assigns the IPs etc.
3) Every computer or smart device (TV, phone, Gaming console) must see every other device connected to either one of the hAP devices as part of the same network. Use cases here are streaming from PLEX on NAS to the TV or storing data from a computer onto the NAS. You get the picture.
4) Assuming that the CRS is 192.168.88.1, the remaining hAP should be accessible via 192.168.88.2, 192.168.88.3 etc.
5) Each hAP has the same SSID so that I can seamlessly switch between the devices when moving around.
My question are:
- am I correct to assume that the CRS125 can be left with default settings?
- how do I set up each hAP in order to meet the requirements listed above?
Your help is very much appreciated.
