Hotspot and user manager with logon page

Fri Oct 27, 2006 11:20 am

Hi Everyone!

I create a hotspot with user manager thanks to (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/How_to_ma ... ot_gateway) and (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Manager).
I like the following, but I don't know ho to start.

So If somebody like to access this hotspot, i give him username and pass and I add this user to the user manager with rate limit.
The user connect to the hotspot...get IP address...but where can i add teh username and the pass? If the user open an explorer how can I redirect to a user t a logon page, and after the user autheticated can use the Internet!? Or is this the way to take the username and the pass ? I read this (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/How_to_Block_Customer), but i like different.

Thanks!

Josh

Josh, you need to setup HotSpot,
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/ip ... ent#7.41.2
If you to redirect all users to the login page before allowing them to conntect to outer networks.

Thanks!

It works fine!

but when I close the statistic windows (IP/time/...) and not log off the hotspot, and after I close the IE and reopen there are no login page I can connect to the internet fine. If i remove the session from user manager...nothing happen...I have disconnect the user in the mikrotik (hotspot/active). The user manager display there are no active clients but there is a user connected in the mikrotik hotspot menu.
Any suggestion?

Yup,...
I have five suggestion for your problems, and i hope you have solved for your hotspot network service.
Q: What is basic of hotspot
A: Allow user[s] to connect to the network with authentication first from webpage

Q: Why is user still connected, without log off action.
A: don't set more time to 'keepalive-timeout'.

Q: How to make disconnect user still login in hotspot service
A: You can remove user[s] instanly in '/ip hotspot user active' listing table

Q: Why is login page disappear
A: have you check for 'open-status-page=http-login'

Q: Why is no active session in userman, but user still connected
A: Make sure your users create in 'userman' as radius server, don't create in local server

Thanks, it's very useful! Now it's working.
Another question. If have this user manager in a PC with large HDD the logs never overwritten?
So If I have 50 users connecting to the PPPOE server with RADIUS (user manager). I don't like to lose the logs. Where the user manager store the logs for the user ...IP, data in/out etc..?!

So If I use a usermanager on a Routerboard 532 ...after days? weeks? month the log rewrites...am I right? So if I put User manager into a PC there is enough space ...?!

Yes, you are right..
is better, when you are talking about AAA with userman and PC router handling for..

as far as i remember since v2.9.31 you can manage logs entry for all users. everythink log in radius-server.
here, i did do like your talking about:
our network running on one phisical interface as dynamic, public ip, pppoe, hotspot, and userman as radius server for AAA [hotspot and pppoe] over wire and unwire to far...far..far ways.

I am never try to make manage for RBs, cos everything one base control in x86 with MT-RouterOS. and until now is work.....fine...

for logs userman, you can manage by web interface in userman, until now userman more fast and friendly.

Just make you know all my RB511s running as AP-2-AP, Stations and other products only made wirelessly or topology network.
