PowerBox - but gigabit (or alternative) ?

Mon May 02, 2016 9:07 am

Greetings !

I need outdoor gigabit switch with PoE out, what are my choices, regarding Mikrotik, or there is none ?

Do I have choice from some other company, that can also support Mikrotik devices from PoE ports ?

Thanks

Mikrotik hEX PoE in an IP rated outdoor enclosure will do the job.

I suspect that PowerBox will be updated with the same PCB as the hEX PoE in the coming months too.

Hmm, I'm maybe wrong, but I don't see that hEX PoE is even out yet, only hEX PoE Lite (and it doesn't fit in, due to 10/100 LAN).

Only alternative I can see is RB260GSP.

Any chance you have a link to the product announcement? I can only find announcements about the hEX PoE Lite. I'm interested to see what they propose (I'm hoping it has an expanded voltage range to run 48V hardware on PoE).

Of course, only moments later, I found my answer:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... oe#p528345

The image in the presentation shows a DC power input range from 10-57V, 1x SFP, ether1 PoE in, and ether2-ether5 PoE out.

I want it now, but I think I have to mix and match other components until this one comes out.
