OSPF routing-test 2.9.29-30. some routes are disapearing.

Tue Sep 26, 2006 12:19 am

40 routers, 600-1000 entries distributed by ospf.
From time to time, dynamic routes just disapear from ip route table.
There is no problem in 2.9.28.

Sending alone anythink to support is worthles - so anyone have this problem too?

for my point of view the last half-stable ospf implementation with routing-test is 2.9.27
from 2.9.28 on it starts to loose its neighbours without any known reason.

greets,
Wolfgang

using routing-test and ospf some routes does not appear in /ip routing

somehow all routes missig goes through wireless.

i think it is momehow connected to link weight. pls can anyone confirm this?

in my test setup i have 6 routers.

here is netowk diagram

all wired links are 10 all wireless are 20
Image

out interface from R3.

and in R5 default GW is set through R6 and not through R6 and direct throufh wireless from R5 to R3

I think that ospf from 2.9.28 to 2.9.30 is so buggy, too. Sometimes the routers don't have default route or some routes dissapear. Ospf neighbours look like: full synhronisation, but neighbour routers don't have some routes(from their neighbours) - so the databases DON'T have full synchronisation, I think.
Sometimes reboot give help for this problem.....
I have mail form support, where they writes, that 2.9.30 have some improvements, but results of using routing test in version 2.9.30 are very very bad....

Yes, the same problem and also ospf-out filtering not working correctly. Our network downgraded to 2.9.27 and no problems...

This will be not supprise me as they will some day disable DOWNGRADE posibility... LOL
But if ospf-out is still not working from 2.9.28 to 2.9.30 what should we do ?

I am getting very worried about it all. We are up to manage a new large network, and I was up to move it all to MK (buying licenses of course). But OSPF and BGP are need. I dont know another better solution for now. and I dont want to get back developing selfmade linux solutions.
I would prefer to pay every month one FAIR amount for having a great support instead of this closed packet and far support.
I'm not sure if it was a good idea to remove the RIP/OSPF/BGP from Level 4. Only piracy will increase. I'd like to use OSPF in the whole network but we have some POP with just 10 users. So, it would not be profitable anymore. (here in brazil one USD is really a lot when compared with Europe or USA)

I see there is a huge mass moving to MK here and most them are starting testing MK by cracked versions, and most of them plan to buy the license to have "support" and to be legal, but if things starts getting "hard" or "far", for sure they will just code one crack and have it for free, just like done with Windows.

The unique way of getting ride of piracy is selling for lower prices and offering real good support and upgrade. Even microsoft with all their money and programmers could not avoid of having their software cracked.

MK says that their programmers are working hard to solve these OSPF problems...

and anyway - ospf is allmost running (some tweaks andworkaraounds on the fly and everything is working again).

and after restart it allways comes back to last state, atleast for me.

Hi there,

just for curiosity, are you using the test package or the regular routing package?
