accessing devices attached to the mikrotik

Wed Mar 12, 2014 9:08 pm

I'm using winbox to connect remotely to the mikrotik , in a hotel wifi environment.

Have ubiquity radios with fixed ip on the lan, and would like to know if its possible to see the status of my wifi radios
from the winbox utility, or possibly even login to the wifi radios via the mikrotik.

regards,

Mark

You can login to your ubnt devices via ssh or telent with mikrotik terminal but you cant get a lot of information of your ubnt devices.
Best way is to make a vpn connection to your mikrotik and then you will be able to login to all your ubnt device from web browser (that's what i do).

You can also login directly with no need of vpn if you redirect ports on nat. But vpn is more safe.

For monitering ive assigned the management IP's of the AP's as non-routable IP's on the mikrotik wan interface so i dont need to waste a public IP on each for up/down status monitering. Then you simply creat a nat rule to forward all traffic from your monitering server to the non-routable (the dude, whatsup, whatever) to the local IP of your AP.

Or you can VPN in if you just want to log in to check it from time to time.

Post here your configuration and network map.

If you ping form Mikrotik UBNT devices, I think you need a NAT rule from PPtP interface and your UBNT network.
