Multiple AP with same SSID

Wed May 25, 2016 8:59 am

Hi,

I would like to know which is the best way to configure my routerboards.
I have about 5-6 routerboards (different models), one is my "core router" and the other are just ap bridge, routerboards are connected by ethernet.
I am having some trumble when I configure all my AP with same SSID, my clients don't swap form one AP to other even the signal is a lot stronger.
I have tried to use CAPsMAN and try to reject client with low signal strength but it doesn't seems to work properly. I should try to configure my AP in static WDS or something else? Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Use Capsman.
You cant move a client from one AP to another, but you can use access-list to kick users with low signal . This will trigger the users equipment to search for the SSID again and will (hopefully) connect to the best one.

This is what i am currently doing, i am rejecting client based on signal strenght range. Probably is my equiment who isn't working properly.

Heres my question about this with config

3- rb 951's, all interfaces bridged, and capsman installed as master on one, and the other 2 are clients
all three are connected by ethernet
There is an additional rb 750 that acts as the dhcp server plugged into the Capsman master.

Can i set all 3 rb951's as the same ssid to emulate roaming? I also heard mention of some access rules i could institute to kick off users if their signal strength is too low. Would this configuration work? Or is there a better senario you could sudgest?? Thanks in advance:)))
