Two interfaces with different DNS settings

Sat Sep 17, 2016 12:55 pm

Hello everybody!

I have created two wireless networks - the basic one and a virtual AP (two different interfaces). I can't figure out how to specify different DNS settings for the Virtual AP.

Can you please advise me?

Thanks in advance!

Assuming each interface has its own subnet and dhcp server, you can set different dns servers for them in /ip dhcp-server network.

Thanks for your answer!

This is a part I don't understand. If I choose the Interface menu there is no possibility to define subnet. Under IP/DHCP server I don't see this opportunity too. Where can I define DHCP subnets?

If you choose Interfaces menu, you get interfaces. They don't necessarily need to have any subnets, they can be e.g. part of bridge. If you want subnets, as an IP thing, you need to go to IP menu. The usual way is to first go to IP->Addresses where you add addresses to your interfaces and at the same time define subnets (using <address>/<netmask> syntax). And when you want your router to work as DHCP server, your next stop is IP->DHCP Server, where you click DHCP Setup button, select an interface you want to use and it will offer you mostly correct values (you might want to adjust some thing like address pool, DNS settings and such).
