SXT LTE - PLMN search in progress

Sun May 22, 2016 9:48 pm

Hello,
please do you have someone expirience with SXT LTE? I tried to configure LTE, but I can't connect. I only get message PLMN search in progress and cannot find any network. In device is valid SIM card with LTE, O2 operator. Mikrotik version v6.36 rc13 (6.35.2 also not working).
Thank you very much,
Jan

Hello

I believe this is due to O2 operating their LTE on 800Mhz and the SXT LTE supporting only 1800Mhz and 2600Mhz

MikroTik, are there any plans to release a version that covers the UK bands for LTE?

Yes, we do plan to release more LTE products some time. Yes, PLMN search means that there are no supported LTE towers nearby, and it is still looking.

If it's no use to you due to the band issue, I would consider buying this off you ... there is no stock in the UK right now on these.

Hello,

LMT client in Latvia, using SXT Lte ( Using Band 3 in my place). LMT tower's location and signal beam directions are well known to me (Business client manager sent me images).

The problem is- link drop outs. As soon as i start loading the link with downloads (30-50Mbit/s) and the link has been established more than 2-3 hours ago, there is a high probability it will drop.

If the link has been established less then a hour ago, i will be able to download my files without link dropouts.

If the outside temperature is below -10C it will drop even more often. In such freezing temperatures the routerboard does not even find the lte interface after reboot, so have to reboot multiple times, so the lte interface would be detected.

Dear Mikrotik, please comment, maybe there are firmware updates for the built-in lte interface?

My routerboard version : 3.33, RouterOS 6.38.1
RSSI: -39dBm
RSRP - -70dBm
RSRQ -11dB
SINR 16dB

Hello kristaps,

I have almost the same problem with link drop outs, but the provider is TELE2 Latvia on Band 3. On high link load 100% that it drops connection in 1-2 minutes after transfer was started. It doesn't matter when the link was established in hrs before or just after reboot. I tried all fw's - stable and rcs, nothing helped. RMA? It will be replaced for another one? Asking for planing down time. It was bought from SPX, SIA.

I had an issue with _VERY_ slow LTE network detection, TELE2 operator Russia
So I figured out that:
1. First operator searh is p to 10 munites. Later it takes < 3 minutes from power-up
2. Consider updating to latest RouterOS release, it works with LTE network much better than 6.36...
3. Pointing the device in right direction and as hight as you can is very important

my SXT gives me 17-19 Mbit (from 20 Mbit limit) speed without any problems. It has no direct lign of sight with operator's base station, which is behind tall buildings
Overall I'm very satisfied with such device

still have the same problem,
roll back to stable/last firmware, enable log to LTE (last 2 screens)
if have disconnected then search time is unlimited until restart rooter.
disable/enable lte interface also dont work.

Thank you Kristaps for the RMA encouragement.
So i returned it to the seller @17th of jan, and got it back last friday (10th feb).

So, what changes do i see- connection dropouts still occur. BUT there is a big change- the device is able to recover from the dropout without a manual or scripted restart (tools-netwatch & other solutions).

When the dropout occurs the lte interface disapears from the list of interfaces in the interfaces window (i'm using winbox), some seconds pass and magic happens- the lte interface is back-> PLMN search in progress-> we are back in business.

Still, would be nice to find out why does the lte interface disappear from the interface list when i loose the lte connection. Maybe RouterOS looses connection with the built-in LTE Interface and that's the source of all dropouts in the first place? Please comment. Thank you.

"PLMN search in progress" means the device does not see any compatible cell towers in the vicinity. SXT LTE supports only bands 3 and 7. Even if your operator claims they use these bands, they might not use it specifically on your tower.

Normis, Sorry for my English, but I think you do not understand what the problem is.
Runaround about the RMA and operators look unserious.
Here is a log of events that occur more frequently than the higher the load:

lte1 link down

lte--: usb power reset
lte--: changing band failed
lte--: online
lte--: UICC PIN cmd result: SUCCESS retry count: 3

I had the same problem - RMA(getting a late 2016 model) fixes that. But those dropouts will still be there (just the connection recovery does not require a full router restart anymore).

Hello,

I have a quite similar problem. Since a couple of days the Internet is lost approx. every 15 mins and coming back after approx. 1 minute.
The log file is only full of
lte1 link up
link ok, ipv4: ..., dns:....
item added
item added
lte1 link down
item removed
item removed
... and then repeating again and again

I was already talking to the Network Provider (Drei) in Austria, they could not find a problem on their system.
Does somebody have experience on what to do? Newest RouterOS and drivers are installed

lg

Stefan
