NetMetal 5

Sun Dec 04, 2016 11:54 pm

Hello,

can someone explain practical difference between 2 and 3 chain versions of NetMetal 5 for point-to-point links ?
For what antenna is that ?

And second question is, what is practical usage of additional mini pci slot inside 922 model. Does it create interference inside netmetal when another wifi card is used? (remember problem with 433 with all slots occupied)

Thanks

Does three polarity antenna even exists for point-to-point links ?

Extra chain = 1/3 more bandwidth. For example at 802.11N 40Mhz we have max 150MBit if using single chain, 300MBit for dual chain and 450MBit for 3x chain. http://mcsindex.com/

Yes it would probably create some interference. Depending on your use case it may or may not affect your link in practice.

Yes I've seen them but if you pay attention to the specs they are all mostly crap There is just not enough isolation for the third chain so the result can't be as good as single or dual chain setups. To use all three chains some people are using one mimo 2x antenna plus a second single polarization antenna for the third chain. Others just use three single polarization antennas.
