CCR-1072 stops responding needs reboot to recover

Wed Feb 01, 2017 11:16 am

Hi Guys,

We are trying to troubleshoot quite a serious issue that is occurring with one of our 1072 routers. We had a complete crash yesterday morning which showed SFP+1 showing a 10gbps link over sfp with no link LED activity on any other ports. We could not see this router from the other router via IP or Neighbours. I went to this router and plugged into the LAN port – I got link activity but no IP connectivity or neighbour discovery. Connected via serial cable with no response either. After power cycle all returned to normal. We had another issue a few weeks ago when SFP +2 was not RX’ing traffic but TX’ing was OK. Cycling port no good, a power cycle fixed this. When this happened the router was on v6.7 (from memory) and after the first event occurred it was upgraded to 6.81 which it was on when it crashed yesterday morning.

This afternoon the router crashed again like yesterday with the exact same symptoms – this was a new router that we replaced the router that crashed yesterday!

Interested to see if anyone has seen anything similar?

Thanks heaps I advance,

Sam

No, this sounds odd.

What is the router doing? e.g. bonding, vlans, mpls, ppp

Has it been stable previously, e.g. on 6.36.x releases ?

Have you logged a ticket with Mikrotik support ?

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah it is odd.. We have had a CCR1016 in the same place for around 18 months with no issues and since being upgraded to 1072 (to gain more SFP+) for future. It is not doing a great deal of work basic routing, ospf and ibgp / bgp (not full table).

I am unsure if we had 6.36 release on it - after we had the first port being unidirectional it was upgraded to 6.81 and when we replaced it yesterday now has 6.37.3

I have logged a mikrotik ticket through our vendor who have seen some 1072 issues but nothing like this.

Thanks Sam,

We have CCR1072's running 6.34.4 and 6.37.4 that are stable. e.g. 290 days uptime on 6.34

We are doing bonding, vlans (QinQ), mpls, vpls, VRF's on them with no issues.

Prior to 6.34 there were definite issues with the CCR1072 stopping passing traffic.

You should be running 6.37.4 for maximum stability.
