Vlan setup

Sun Mar 05, 2017 2:00 am

I'm planning to replace unmanaged switches in all my BaseStations.

All AccessPoints have in place a Vlan for custmer internet access through a bridge. (you know, the bridge acts as an access port )

Is worth the effort of removing vlan setup over AccessPoints and moving it to managed switches ?

Will the performance be affected in anyway ?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hi sasskass,
We are a WISP and therefore there's no traffic between vlan's because Vlan's offers internet access to customers so vlan's are isolated one from each other.
We have obiusly both kind of traffic TCP and UDP. ; )

Finally I decied as best practice that switches hardware have to take care of wlan's taggin/untaggin. Reason ? => radio devices shuold only do radio stuff; in that
way the radio OS don't have to deal vlans.

Thanks.
