Make computer use Hotspot for user login

Sat May 13, 2017 5:02 am

Hi all.
I have a situation where I want to make 2 computers go throught the hotspot to make the users of these computers log into the usermanager.
I know how to do this, but not in the following situation which is why I need some help.

Both these computers are connected to an ether hub which then connects to the Miktotik...and RB915G
There are also other computers connected to the hub, and I dont want the user of these computers to log in.
I "could" use another hub and connect that to the MT and make that ether port on the MT use the hotspot, BUT I dont want to have to 1. buy another hub, and 2. run another cable under my house if I dont need to.
I know the MAC addresses of the computers and I had a crack at what I though I could do, but it didnt work :-(
I was hoping there was a way to say, "IF you are this MAC address then go through the Hotspot bridge" ....or something like that.
I thought I might be able to do it throught firewall but I think that might be a bit late in the chain of events.

If anyone has some suggestions, please let me know.

Jeremy

Setup the HotSpot for all computers. Then under HotSpot/IP Bindings, set the mac addresses of the computers you want to not have to login to bypassed. A alternative would be setup HotSpot for all and then add the 2 computer to IP Bindings as regular and then below add your IP subnet as bypassed.

Ok I can try that.
My only question there is, if a computer is setup to bypass the hotspot, will it still be able to see the internal network?
Thats poorly worded I know :-) but at the moment my internal network is 192.168.1.x and my hotspot is 10.0.50.x (from memory) so if the computer bypasses the hotspot will it still get a 192.168.1.x IP address?
If not I know I cant set up address pools etc. but thought I would ask before getting carried away :-)

Thanks, Jeremy
