PPPoE over dual stack

Tue Jun 27, 2017 6:34 pm

hey guys,
i'm not sure how far mikrotik has come regarding ipv6 but i'll ask anyway.
how do i go about deploying ipv6 along with ipv4 over pppoe?
i'm not talking about dhcp here, i want to give out ipv6 addresses from a pool, the same way it is given out over ipv4.
has anybody gone ahead and tried this and succeeded? i'd appreciate any help.
thank you
Niamul

I don't have PPPoE running, that said, their are prefix delegation options available in the PPP profiles area. I assume you should be able to grab a pool of IPv6 addresses, set a prefix-length to be issued and go hog wild. I imagine it just uses link-local addressing on the PPPoE interfaces themselves.

I don't like concentrating all my traffic through a PPPoE router but I understand a lot of the ISP community has implemented this. I imagine it is largely because of the tooling that is used for user and subscription control.

PPPoE because 3 factor authentication, no other reason.
it can only delegate to another router unfortunately, at least that is what the documents have said so far.
i do get ipv6 and ipv4 ip through pppoe based on what i have done but the ipv6 doesn't route.
the router i connect to routes it's own ipv6 but hat is through bgp
router 1: 2214:aa77:1::1/64
router 2 2214:aa77:1::2/64
route 2 giving out 2214:aa77:2::/64 le 128
trace to the outside works from 2214:aa77:1::2/64 but after that nothing.
i can ping my gateway but doesn't trace after that
