Lost power during RB532 OS Upgrade...

Fri Jan 12, 2007 2:29 am

So, how do you go about recovering a RB532 after loosing power during an OS upgrade?

Currently I am only able to enter setup via the serial port. Tried resetting config, formatting nand and using Net Install.

All I can get to at this point is this:

RouterBOOT booter 2.4

RouterBoard 532

CPU frequency: 266 MHz
Memory size: 32 MB

Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup..

trying bootp protocol... OK

Got IP address: 192.168.1.161

transfer started .................... transfer ok, time=1.13s

setting up elf image... OK

jumping to kernel code

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

Any suggestions or is this a RMA candidate?

Thanks,

Brad

1) First of all check RouterBOOT configuration,
boot protocol should be 'bootp' protocol,
boot device should be boot from Ethernet.
2) Make sure that netinstall found router and you have tried to install the RouterOS (the latest packages, the latest netinstall version). Check for the output.
3) If you will get any error, upgrade RouterBOOT loader to the latest version, you can do it using serial port,

4) Try the latet netinstal once more, if you will have any errors, post errors from serial console.
