Mikrotik RBwAPR-2nD wAP R (LTE)

Sat Jul 15, 2017 10:03 am

I'm about to pull the trigger on this one (with LTE card inside).
Few questions:
1. Why not gigabit LAN ? I presume to cut the costs. But what about those people who buy LTE cards Cat4. and up ? It seems they need to come up with different solution.
2. What kind of external antenna connector wAP R uses ? u.FL or ? External antenna can be used with kit based wAP R, correct ?

2.
Attach the grey uFL connector to the MAIN antenna connector of the modem, attach the black cable to the other (or
AUX) connector. It is possible to use external antennas for the modem, two SMA mounting holes are provided next
to the reset button, or if you prefer to attach antennas to the case directly, SMA antennas can be mounted on the
bottom of the case if you remove the two plastic hole covers first

Does anybody know, if there is any progress with card support? I'd rather use wAP R with LTE cat. 6 module, but with PPP interface It is not worth it.

What do you mean by external WiFi? The WiFI is built in. There is a slot for a 4G card. You only have one slot there. If you use a 4G card, you can only use the internal WiFi module.

When talking about antennas, you can add external antenna to the 4G card, but not the built in WIFi.

That's exactly what I meant, in some models the mikrotik is able to connect external antennas (there are connectors on the board) for the Wifi. Thank you very much for your answer.

Which products do you mean, that have antenna connectors inside the box?

Those are a different class of devices, they are bigger and also more expensive. Something like the NETMETAL will suit your needs:

You can select any modem in this list that has miniPCIe format and does not have any counter indications in the notes. For example Huawei ME909s-120 is pretty good. Here is the list:

SIM slot is located on the Netmetal device itself.
