VirtualAP Behavior

Tue Sep 05, 2017 9:05 pm

Hello!

These days I was configuring a VirtualAP on my MK and notice that when I finished to configure the VAP, when enabling it, all the devices connected on the other VAP that I had configured were disconnected from their respective networks. I would like to know if this is a normal behavior of the wireless interface.

Thanks in advance for any response,

Regards,

Artur

Hello Artur,

Please provide more information about your setup. /interface wireless export would be a good start.

In my experience, when changing a wlan interface, all clients do disconnect. I suppose this would be true of a virtual one.

True, but he's adding a VAP. Do you think it would affect an existing one??

Wish I was in front of a router...

That's normal.

Every change to the VAP also resets the main interface, same as if you changed a setting on the main interface.

The funny stuff is when you have multiple VAP and clients can only connect to one or the other. VAP has had issues from time to time. Extremely useful, though not always as reliable as I'd like. Works perfect once it works, on occasion I've had to enable them in a specific order if I had more than one VAP. Trial and error to determine the order. May not be an issue these days.
