please check if it uses the flash without using the support output file generation - as the support output file generation takes a lot of CPU usage during the creation process.
What services are you running on the router: webproxy, logging, graphing or some other service that writes to flash?

what packages you have installed on the router?
have you installed the usermanager or dude server?
Have you enabled or used the SMB feature?
The .rif file isn't fully created - you need to wait up to 5minutes till it creates fully and then send it to support@mikrotik.com

i don't use the SMB feature and installed dude, but i installed usermanager,i need UM to manage user of the hotspot

when the cpu usage get 100%,i make RIF file and wait a long time, but the winbox disconnect,i don't know whether it creates fully create fully

'flash' means 'writing to disk'.

you are using user manager and you are making a supout.rif file, these two things use the disk, so this is normal. when you are not creating a supout.rif file, what is the flash usage then?

i know fiash mean the flash device read or write, but when there are not creating a .RIF file the 'flash' also get all the cpu resource
and the UM only has two users

make a supout.rif file at the moment when "flash" is acting up, and send to support.

did you do that? if yes, wait for response from support. only support can tell for sure what caused it.

Oh it's not only me who had this issue. In my case CPU was on 100%, profiler shows high 'flash' activity during Skype call, but sector writes since reboot wasn't increased at all. It's currently at 1867 after 9day uptime. I think that's ok. So there is no real write to Flash.
I heard that this issue appears only on wireless. If connected by wire there is no such issue.

I have rebooted router and I can't reproduce this issue anymore.

Re: RB751 CPU usage get too high (also on RB112)

Fri Mar 30, 2012 11:57 am

I am having a similar problem with a RB112 - the flash value in the profile spikes to 100%.

The winbox client would not allow me to connect until the unit was rebooted. And the only way to reboot was to logon using telnet or sometimes webfig would. Even then it often timed out after issuing the reboot command. It would typically take 5-10 minutes before it rebooted. Unfortunately the power switch for the unit is in the roof space... not easy to get to!

Tried upgrading to latest 5.14 - no change

Now have disabled packages I am not using and disabled the logging to flash.

Am waiting to see if that has fixed the problem or not. Now has gone for over an hour without maxing out on the flash process.

I had the same problem, i have running a webproxy and usermanager+hotspot+radius, but it was a problem with the cache, i solved using a Max Cache size of none, and activating Cache on disk, for some reason with big files or too much files the flash starts to use a lot of cpu (this was happening to me when someone on my network start to use google earth). i hope this will solve your problem

Sorry for my English, i hope that you understand it :?

I didn't see anyone ask what his logging settings were. If 'flash' means writing to disk, is it possible that he has some logging rules set to write to disk that are active during usage -- and therefore crippling the unit?

I found that even just viewing the settings in the Winbox also often causes a 100% CPU load.

I suspect that the developers simply do not test the latest versions ROS/Winbox on RB751U.
