Link PTP 130KM helps ...

Wed Sep 27, 2017 4:05 am

first of all, good night and thanks in advance for the help they can lend me ... I tell you briefly I am in the middle of a project with several links with the objective of taking service at a distance of 200k on average and most of them are a point with a signal quality at -55db and with a CCq that ranges between 96-100% are links echos in NV2 with RB912 "Basebox5Ghz" until there is everything well the last link of 130 Km I have already connect with an average of -65db and here is where the problem comes the link is not symmetrical in a direction CCq is 100% can pass with the test tool of bandwidth of mikrotik up to 120MB "theoretical" but in the opposite direction only pass 15-20MB with a CCq that does not exceed 55% .... somehow they told me that they could be the pigtails and I changed them and I stayed the same, I had my doubts about a dish I was using in that link since I was half old believing that the antenna was damaged as such buy a new one vo and gave me exactly the same result, they told me it could be a radio that was damaged from the factory change the radio on the client side getting the same result I just need to change the radio on the AP side but I'm afraid to get the same result ....

I will be passing the practical limit of the radius as far as the distance (but because in one direction if it raises the CCQ to 100%) in the other direction no ....

I will definitely switch to ubiquiti airfiber 5x which I have been recommended a lot

some say that it is interference in the link (I've seen links with interference and are always symmetrical does not raise the CCQ% by any side in Tx or Rx)

I leave here some photos of what was tested today

I appreciate all the help that greetings can give me, I am attentive to any question

PS: my native languages are Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil) to write here I'm using the google translator I apologize for possible syntax errors .........

Hi macdo, i think that you have a signal interference problem. If you have 100% of CCQ on Chain Tx this doesn't mean that you will have 100% CCQ in Rx Chain also..

Think in this scenario:

** Point A (AP) ***
Used frequencies:
- 5180
- 5200
- 5220
- 5240
- 5500
- 5520
- 5540

** Point B (ST) ***
Used frequencies:
- 5180
- 5200
- 5600
- 5640

If you use for example the frequency 5500 in your link, the AP will have a 100% of CCQ in Tx Chain because this frequency (5500) are free in "Point B (ST)", but when the station (Point B) will have to transmit to the AP the CCQ goes down because this frequency are used in "Point A" in another wireless equipment and are interferenced.

To determine wich is the better frequency to use, you will use the "Frequency Usage" tool under wireless options and you need to find a channel/frequency free in booth places. In this scenario we can use for example 5300 MHz.

I hope this help you to understand how wireless links works

Regards

Hello tay, your problem is that the signal are very interferenced. To get 300Mbps on your wireless LInk, you need at least -60dBm and a constant CCQ over 70-80% and set up your channel width to 20/40 Mhz.
If you cant pass more than 5Mbps in your link, please use "Frequency Usage" to find a clean frecuency to your link. You need at least 40MHz of free spectrum to get this.

Regards.

now that I see this part of the frequency usage as it should read or interpret the part of floor noise?

when it is good when it is bad what would be appropriate for a link as that greetings stay tuned :o

And now you are at the Point wehre you Need a spectral Scan History,
with BaseBox this is Possible with Netbox (ac) not.

Mikrotik had canceled Spectral Scan Support for there AC Products

Where is this link located, what frequency is allowed to use?

Hello macdo, what antennas are you using with basebox (manufacturer and model)?

This information is very important to determine wich is the best frequency for your link.

Regards.

In the area where I am, I can use the one I need only if the link is good and fulfills its production function

In this case and searching in datasheet of this antenna the range in wich operates is 4900 - 5800 MHz. Im recommend you to use the frecuency 5120MHz at 40 MHz and try again your link throughput.

hello my friend you are about to become my new hero, make the change he told me and the ptp radically changed an image of him

Image

although the CCQ% of the Rx continues to be maintained at 100% that of the Rx fluctuates constantly at a time it reaches 80% (there has never been there) and suddenly drops to about 45%, but the constant is about 65-70%

that another change you think that it must be done to finish stabilizing the CCQ% somewhere in the law that the MSC must be selected from 1-12 and so I have your opinion about it or that is indifferent to the CCQ%, greetings stay tuned

Hi macdo,

To get 300Mbps wireless link you need to set data rate to "default" or select from 0 to 15. At MCS 12 you only will get 180 Mbps max with a short guard interval.

To get best performance, try to set your wireless link to "nstreme" protocol and to stabilize your link, change frequency in 5 MHz steps up or down to find your "ideal" frequency.

If you want to "legalize" your link, please search your wireless regulatory restrictions for your country and post here, for example here in spain we can use this frequencies:

5180-5320, 5500-5800

Regards.

hello djfrancis really increased the link to 270-300 Mbps as you can see in the image that I attached although I still maintain it in NV2 since doing the test with nstreme did not give good results the link becomes more unstable and passes much less traffic, with all the changes have stabilized more and more and improved the traffic which has allowed me to work but I did not manage to increase the CCQ above 70%, I have the impression that looking for a better channel can improve but I read on the internet and I do not achieve to give a correct interpretation to the reading of the NF in the tool of search of use of the frequency of mikrotik in synthesis I can not interpret when it is good and when it is bad since I understand there is a correlation between the NF and the saturation by noise in the signal , can help me interpret greetings.

on the other hand that another change could be made in search of more stability was attentive ... greetings

Hi macdo, a good way to interpretate this values (Frequency Usage and Noise Floor) is this:
- A lower Noise Floor value are better (-115 is better than -105)
- A frequency with constant 0% of usage is a good frecuency. When you find a "good frequency", set your scan-list to scan 40 MHz upper this frequency and below this frequency. For example, if you see that frequency 5220 is good, set your scan-list to 5180-5260 and see if usage changes or not. If there aren't changes in a 10-20 seconds on this frequency means that are good for use.
on the other hand that another change could be made in search of more stability was attentive ... greetings
To gain stability on your link the first step is find the best frequency and then if you cant mantain max modulation of link (300/300), set your wireless config to use lower modulation (MCS 0-14 or MCS 0-13) to avoid flapping rate.

Regards.

Hello, good afternoon, excuse me for delaying in posting, I was looking for the ideal frequency which as it does not exist in this link jejejejeje. well I found one that gave a moderately good result but the same CCQ% of the RX never increased above 50% then lei and lei and the only possible solution that apparently worked was not to leave the MSC with multiple selections but to thicken one and so I was choosing to see how much I could support the link and in the end I was as shown in the following image

Image

the good CCQ% oscillates between 80 and 98%, the bad the MSC where the link reacted so it was in 3 what allows to spend as maximum 30 MB in the best case .. now what I do not understand is why selected all MSC or at least up to 15 as it would be ideal the link in TX can pass 150MB but in RX it becomes totally crazy and does not raise the CCQ% because it behaves so asymmetrically.

now this link as mentioned at the beginning of the post is echoed with two radios 922 which is not bad for links not greater than 50KM which are the ones that I usually echo that radio recommend me to use in this link that gives me better results ??

a friend who has a cemenjante link tells me to use the airfiber ubiquiti 5X with the 45 ° Slam system .... now I wonder there is not a mikrotik team that size for these links that can compete with airfiber ??

Hello DjFrancis seeing me in the situation where I am and looking for references to continue working with mikrotik I would like to use this equipment RB921UAGS-5SHPacD-NM what do you think?
This would be a good option works in AC which would allow me to work on frequencies greater than 40MHZ so dodging a little noise that already exists in those in that band and the other is that it has a bit more power than the RB912 currently in that link of 130KM that is not little ...

The other option is to buy the airfiber5X that you think I want some council or yours or someone from the staff I really do not want to throw money in the trash, greetings

hi everybody and nice day

I recommend mpls and vpls over wireless ptp ( netmetal5...for example), specifically if you are working multicast link IPTV. This avoid bottleneck on interface wlan1 ( without mpls and vpls, you will get only 6Mbps :( ) .

Bandwidth---> 90Mbps/90mbps-->TCP---> I Got with this link-----ccq 97%---Rssi -55 dB--rate modulation 580mbps/520mbps
