What Mikrotik router support TheDude?

Sun Oct 15, 2017 10:27 am

I am looking for a Mikrotik router that will be used mainly as a dude server.
Main Requirements:

Rack mounted
Dual power supplies
RAM>= 2GB

I am confused from the website, and I am afraid to order a router that sounds as a good one, then I find out that it doesn't support TheDude.

Please advice (preferably from a MikroTik person, or if there is an official document about that)

Thank you very much for the reply, however:

In my opinion, I find the Wiki document generic, and not specific.
What I understood from it, is that any router os version "v6.34rc13 or newer" can support TheDude.
As per the hardware in the document is refers to platforms supported with samples.

Right now, the only clear choice is the "RB1100AHx4 Dude Edition" as it name implies.

I was hoping to clarify if the high end routers "CCR" support the dude or not.

The RB1100AHx4 is a high end router. If you need higher routing performance possibly get 2 devices one for Dude and a CCR for routing. The RB1100AHx4 has a very big advantage of any of the Mikrotik hardware routers as it can support very large internal SATA disk drives in conventional or SSD format.

I agree with Jebz, but perhaps you'd be better off using an x86 server? Depends what you have available and what else you're trying to achieve.
EDIT: The CCRs all support The Dude, but you may or may not have enough storage space if you have a large database. I use a CCR1009 and it's fine, but it's a relatively small database.
