Hi,
I've discovered Mikrotik and there's an aura of awesomeness all around there.
With that said, i want to buy this router to use it with a VPN provider with wathever protocol (PPTP, OpenVPN...) to ensure that all the connections that are coming to the router are forwarded to the VPN provider (wathever provider it is (tunnel bear, hide my ass etc)).

Do you guys know if this router is capable of a decent throughput doing this kind of things?

Rather around 20Mbit/s with aes128cbc !

Don't expect more. If you need ipsec performance then you can select one of the devices with hw aes encryption acceleration. For example 750Gr3, if you would like to stay at low cost.

yes i agree max 20mbps you can expect, keep in mind rb941 is almost the cheapest mikrotik device

if you can wait go for the new upcoming hAP ac2 will be good purchase, almost 6 times the cpu performance of the rb941 and has ip-sec hardware acceleration

and also a more powerful wifi radio in 2ghz and a second additional wifi radio in 5ghz

ethernet ports are gigabit

all that for only 70 US

Ok guys,
i'm about to buy the 750Gr3.
But i'm a little confused on how all this is gonna work.
I've got the VPN provider that is going to give me some configuration for LT2P over IPSEC to put on RouterOS.
Assuming that everthing is going to work fine, i will be able to connect more than one device to the router (or the access point connected to the rotuer) and use the encrypted connection on all the devices simultaneously?

You will be able to connect more than one device to the LAN side of the router and use the L2TP connection for all of them if the router itself would have a public IP address. All you'll have to do would be to apply src-nat (well, maybe a masquerade) on packets routed out via the l2tp interface, just as if it was a normal WAN interface.

If the router wouldn't have a public IP address itself, you may get in conflict with some other L2TP/IPsec client accessing the VPN service from behind the same publc address like your router. In that case, you would need to do a dirty trick on the Mikrotik to resolve that. If that is the case, come back for the details.
