Lots of STP packets in network

Sun Feb 25, 2018 9:44 pm

Hi all,

I am running the HAP AC RB962UIGS-5HACT2HNT with 6.41.2 as an router with AP function.

I see on my clients with tcpdump allot of:
20:37:05.200632 STP 802.1w, Rapid STP, Flags [Learn, Forward], bridge-id 8000.64:**:54:**:20:**.8004, length 43
	message-age 0.00s, max-age 20.00s, hello-time 2.00s, forwarding-delay 15.00s
I am just using ipv4 to map my 192.* to my providers modem. Do I need this active in my network? Can I disable this? I don't need ipv6.

ipv6 was disabled.

I am trying to learn here. This isn't ipv6 (which I thought it was) traffic but bridged ipv4/ethernet STP traffic if I look closer.

Just wondering how I can disable that STP traffic without breaking the router functionality. It's flooding my local LAN/WLAN.

Great.

I just disabled BRIDGE and all connections from and to the HAP AC are not possible any more.

Reset time.

After reset went to Stable. Still seeing STP traffic.

So anybody know how to disable this STP traffic?

Hi

Have you tried disabling the ipv6 package?
On a somewhat related note, I'd like to disable IPv4 and go pure IPv6. Can I expect that to work with a Mikrotik?
