WAN and 3G Failover

Wed Feb 28, 2018 10:01 am

Dears

I have both RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN and RB951. since both have USB port i tried to use the 3G fail over with WAN
I did connect WAN ( from ADSL router ) to port 1 , and activated PPP for the 3G dongle connected to the USB
I tried some prgramming over the internet that activate the failover when WAN is down, it worked but the 3G does not back off when WAN is up again
any of you has a working method for this ? ( 3G failover when WAN is down and it goes off when WAN is up again automatically ) ?

Thanks

Did you set the "distance" for each connection? i.e. distance 1 for WAN and distance 2 for 3G.

thanks thiagohfl

Actually i tired this, but maybe it did not work cause i had 2x WAN as load balancing and 3G failover, so the distance were 1,2,3 in sequence.
I tired to disconnect both 2x WANs and yes the 3G worked and initiated a connection but when one of those WAN comes up again the 3G keeps working and added to the balance

Do you suggest then to have 1x WAN and 1x 3G as distances 1,2 only ?

Thanks

I do not like load balancing... But if you do, don't change it.
Post your config, please. Go to terminal and "export compact", let me see.

And tell me, you do want that 3g assumes the traffic, only if 2 WAN get down, is it? i.e. Load Balancing is working, if WAN1 goes down, it keeps working with WAN2, if WAN2 goes down too, 3G assumes... If WAN1, or WAN2, or both of them get up, they will assume.
