how to connect two mikrotik routers in the same place!

Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:15 pm

Hi friends.
as you see in the image.

i have two mikrotik routers in the same place, each one for different Network, different clients, and the two routers share the same internet source by unmanagement switch, so the question is!, how i can create "link" between the two mikrotik routers to let me control the other router, userman, winbox etc.
for example if i connect cable from ether7 in rb1100(1) to ether7 in rb1100(2) what should i do to make it work?!

You need nothing but firewall rules which allow you to access secure management interfaces (like ssh or https) via the uplink interface (192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3) from the address of the other machine. Or you may add a common VLAN with a common IP subnet in it (i.e. each of the two RB1100 would have one address from this subnet) on these intefaces, and maybe even make one other port on each RB1100 an access port to this VLAN so that you could connect the management PC to it and have access to both machines at the same time regardless to which of them you are currently connected.

In fact, how do you plan to connect the PC from which you want to manage the boxes? It is also possible to let a particular MAC address (the one of your notebook) connect to the VLAN when connected to the SSID normally used for clients, instead of connecting to the client's subnet.

You could connect to the mikrotik that you can ‚see‘ from your network and connect to the other via ip neighbours. Some cli knowledge comes in handy when doing so.
