Using a Novatel S620 EDVO card with Sprint PCS problem?

Sat Feb 24, 2007 4:51 pm

The brief version.

Attempting to setup a mobile webcam that may be used on a truck.

Using a small single board PC with Router OS 2.9.40 installed on a CF card. Right now its a level 1 demo license.

I have got the card to dial out to the Sprint PCS network using PPP it obtains a address and updates the routing table without problems.

At this point I can use the ethernet side to route to internet, establish a pptp or l2tp tunnel back to a RB532 located on a public static IP.

After a period of time, the tunnel is lost, ability to route to internet is lost. From past experence with Sprint, they do change the IP address of the S620 while its in use on a regular basis. Looking at the routing, it shows that the routes and IP address has not changed.

Anyone have any experence using RouterOS with Sprint?

My pro M$ manager wants to use a embeded version of XP to do simple routing, if I can not make this work.

Also it would be nice of a future version of a routerboard would have a PCMIA slot for EDVO devices like this, provided we can make it work.

Thanks
