Assign Public Ip to ppp client.

Sun May 13, 2018 8:59 pm

Hi,

I am a forum newbie, also not that experienced with mikrotik so I would like to hear some suggestions on my case.

Case:
Routrt Mikrotik CCR
10.0.0.1/24 - public ip's assigned to interface eth1
172.16.0.1/24 local ip-s assigned to vl100 which get NAT-ed via 10.0.0.1 to internet.
VLAN 100 on eth2 which is connected to dslam
connection is:
Internet->eth1->NAT<-eth2->dslam->vl100->ppp->modem(w 172.16.0.X ip) ->all working as desired.

Now I would like to add VLAN 101 and use it to assign public ip-s to some of the modems without NAT, one way would be to add eth1,eth2 to bridge bind all vlans and ip's there and all would work, but somehow I don't like that idea and keep thinking there would be a better way, especially as said CCR does not have a switch chip on it.

so end result would be like:
Internet->eth1->eth2->dslam->vl101->ppp->modem(w 10.0.0.X).

masquerade is a special case of src-nat. you can bind two addresses to the external interface. in one to make the Internet for users and for the second to make nat 1: 1

There is another way!
Set Ether1 and Ether2 ARP as proxy-arp. Then when you create a ppp user config manually local ip that is your LAN subnet and Remote Public IP that you want to assign to client.
