What do you guys think of adding new feature in Winbox which would check first six signs of a MAC address and display which company is bound to this MAC? I'd would see this as new column in DHCP Server for example. This would be great timesaver! Builtin OUI search within Winbox.
MAC address database is available from here http://standards.ieee.org/develop/regauth/oui/oui.txt
I've asked MT support and the response was "we may consider it if more people would be interested".
Funny you should say that, we keep telling you that 16MB is not much. That file is almost 4 Megabytes. Many RouterOS devices have 16MB total storage size.
C'mon Normis. Use local storage. Let Winbox download this file locally into computer. Make some GUI to update this file and that's all. That file is almost 4 Megabytes. Many RouterOS devices have 16MB total storage size.

I was just about to say the exact same thing.Funny you should say that, we keep telling you that 16MB is not much. That file is almost 4 Megabytes. Many RouterOS devices have 16MB total storage size.
I don't think so. Winbox could use local storage for that. That file is almost 4 Megabytes. Many RouterOS devices have 16MB total storage size.
Does the file need to be on the router?
Compressed would be around 450KB, but then this feature need to be added everywhere (terminal, webfig etc.). Not just winbox, because not everyone is using winbox all the time. But this file is unnecessarily large, e.g. http://anonsvn.wireshark.org/wireshark/trunk/manuf is much smaller, and you could compress it even further. Plus it wouldn't have to be at router, WinBox could use local copy.
First we could have it in Winbox. WebFig and CLI can come later. And I really don't think that CLI is most important here. Sure, system should have feature consistency/unification, but hey I would not mind if it was Winbox exclusive feature for some time.Compressed would be around 450KB, but then this feature need to be added everywhere (terminal, webfig etc.). woops. Well, then +1@blingblouw: Erm… I proposed it as additional column.

Hello Normis. But if this functionality was for Winbox only, that would not be a problem, right? That file is almost 4 Megabytes. Many RouterOS devices have 16MB total storage size.
