532A/SR2 almost not recieving

Thu Mar 22, 2007 12:15 am

Hey

I have an AP with RB532A/R52/SR2. R52 for 5GHz backhaul and SR2 for 2.4GHz AP. I am seeing strange things with this, like it's becoming deaf. When i scan (SR2) i see almost nothing and connected clients RSSI are all in the high 80's even if they're close.. However TX is good, clients have good RSSI and TX CCQ is almost perfect. When this was mounted 2 weeks ago we had no problems whatsoever and saw everything fine.. A scan back then gave me more than 50 AP's in the area. I have tried different channels etc, all with same result... Is it a broken radio? R52 (5Ghz) is running perfect..

Regards

/Henrik

Sounds like the SR2 took an electrical discharge (shock) and now it's deaf. Try replacing the SR2. You could try one of the new XR2 radios as they have a new grounding lug to dissipate static hits. See http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/XR2_Surge.pdf

Hey Henrik,

It does sound like you have a deaf card. Most likely cause would be a static shock.

JJCinAZ is on the right track. XR2 has built in surge protection circuitry, that dissipates static shocks through the grounding cable to help mitigate cards going deaf.

Mike,

Is there any way to warranty or repair these cards? Last time I counted I have over 30 of them that are deaf. If you (ubnt) can't repair them can you at least confirm that it is the diversity switch that is bad so that I can try to repair them myself.

Thanks,
Gerard
