WAP-LTE PoE voltage question

Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:20 pm

I have WAP-LTE kit and works flawlessly in UK. I know the supplied power block provides 24V to the device through the supplied PoE injector. I have a quite powerful Li battery that can supply 5, 12, 16 or 19 V DC to power a laptop. The way I use the kit I want to connect the battery to PoE injector to provide power for a couple of hours for the WAP-LTE. Can I use the battery, connecting its output to the PoE injector? and if so - which voltage should I choose?

Many thanks,

Roberts

The WAP LTE can take a direct input of between 9&30v.
You could use the bundled 4 pin automotive installation cable and use 12v to power it.

Re: WAP-LTE PoE voltage question  [SOLVED]

As WAP can take up to 30V use highest available (19V). This way current will be the lowest giving slightly lower power loss in cables. Or it will support slightly longer PoE cables without causing instability (slightly too low voltage can cause reboots).

Thank you both guys, I will do that Poe 19V. Using the 12 V automotive could be a good thing too, but it is potentially more fiddly as I need to move the system and power up at various places. So having PoE power from either battery or wall plug works best for me - if I moved the system where I want to power from wall plug, I would need to either open the cover to switch wires or keep two wires dangling from the WAP-LTE. Because I will want to had it over to other people to operate I will want as simple setup as possible.
