AWS CHR - "userdata" script on first boot

Sat Nov 10, 2018 12:18 am

I have seen the feature in the release notes to "run startup scripts on the first boot on AWS and Google Cloud installations", however, I cannot find instructions on how to do this.

I have various CHR in AWS and would like to fully automate them using AWS CloudFormation or similar, and would like to pass config to them on the very first boot up.

Any ideas?

It's a shame, but I was told by Mikrotik that this is not something they currently suppport in RouterOS CHR. I was also told by their support that they will only consider implementing this feature if there will be more similar requests.

I also got an impression that userdata concept was somehow new to them as I had to explain what I have in mind. Although userdata has been industry standard way of deploying cloud based machines for years. Someone is a bit behind the curve.
