new IP block not working

Tue Apr 10, 2007 10:01 pm

i just get a new /25 assigned to me by my provider (174.XXX.50.128/25)

i was told to use my existing default route (64.XXX.133.XXX)

Router A: i added 174.XXX.50.129/25 to ether3, plugged my laptop into ether3 addressed my laptop to 174.XXX.50.150/25 and could surf fine.

Router B:now I plugged a mikrotik router into ether3 gave it an address of 174.XXX.50.150/25, added a default route of 174.XXX.50.129 and i could not ping out to the internet. i couldnt even ping 174.XXX.50.129 and from router A i could not even ping router B.

What is going on?

Thank you

If you set up everything correctly then my best guess is the ARP table on the default gw..

You need to use a gateway in the same subnet as your range. Possibly they setup a new range and are just routing it thru the old one ?

Changeip, I thought the same thing but the ISP said to use the same /30 that my original 64.XXX.XXX.XXX/28 used. As i stated i addressed my notebook that sam as router B and all was well. Ill will be bat at that site in a few days and see what i can find.

Thank you for the reply
