Multiple DHCP IPs for Win2K server?!?

Thu Apr 12, 2007 5:47 am

This is somewhat weird, and I can't say that I've ever seen anything like it before.

Installed an RB532A with 2.9.38 on it today. As I was showing the user around the interface, we were looking at the DHCP leases, and noticed that their Windows 2000 server had leases on about 6 or 7 IP addresses (according to the MikroTik).

What's weird is that the server has 1 ethernet port, and it's configured with a static IP (no DHCP). Checking with the server, it claims that it's using only one address.

Double-check the Tik, and all the Mac addresses are the same, and they are all attached to the server.

Is this some sort of manifestation of some kind of bug, or is it some other kind of anomaly?

Confused (as usual)

RAS installed on the server? RAS will obtain leases in such a way to reserve the IP Addresses, if it's set to obtain IP Addresses from DHCP....

In normal DHCP Servers, you can normally configure it to use only one lease per host... Mikrotik does not have that feature.
