i need to upgrade the router OS from 2.9.34 to 2.9.42

Sat Apr 14, 2007 8:11 pm

hi,

i would like to upload extra modules to my routerboard 532a but they are all v2.9.42 when my routerboard OS is v2.9.34. as a result, these newer version modules don't work. i need to upgrade my router OS to v2.9.42. i have a level 4 license.

in the wiki, it has directions but it points to an "Upgrade" package at http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html that is no longer there. so i'm assuming that the "Combined RouterOS Package" includes the router OS upgrade to v2.9.42.

can someone confirm that this is indeed the way to upgrade the router OS to v2.9.42?

also, if i do this upgrade, will i lose my current routerboard configuration? i have 100+ users entered as well as other settings and i would prefer not to have to re-enter everything.

There shouldn't be any issues upgrading .34 to .42. Just go ahead..

hi,

from my limited knowledge, yes. all i did was ftp the *.npk file to the RB, then rebooted the RB. i connect to the wired network which the RB is filtering through a 7 mile, 5.8/2.4 Ghz wireless hop.

Yes this works but.....
I would Allways run a backup of the current configuration, and download it to a local resource FIRST !!!

Except for maybe major revs that could change interface numbers... Careful there.

yes, normally we controlled them from our roaming, and we have RDP special too to make easy remote them.
nice with mikrotik, i love it, they made us easy......
