save running-config to another location

Sun Mar 10, 2019 11:21 am

Hello,
I have Mikrotik hEX in my home. The device have only 16MB flash storage. My config is medium sized, nothing special. Everything is fine except the blacklist part.
I'm using my router to download free Mikrotik based address lists, then block the traffic from/to it. I followed guide like this: https://www.marthur.com/networking/mikr ... ewall/388/ but this is only for one of the lists, I have several of them so in my Address Lists field I have 47000 records, and I got low disk space (5% free), because of that.
If I unload these lists, my space is 25% free.

So I know that, hEX have USB and card reader. Can I use it to store my running config into it?
I read about that in this article: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Partitions but I don't know how to do it, and is it possible to do it?

Thanks a lot!

Partitions are there to divide NAND to two (or more) bootable spaces (so one can try newer ROS or alternative setup and could switch back and forth). If NAND is large enough, I wouldn't try to do it with any NAND smaller than 128MB.

When you plug in an USB stick and make it visible to ROS, it'll show as disk1/ or something. When you export/backup, just set file name to disk1/something ...

All the work is done for you for pennies, just check out MOAB.
If I wasnt using a more expensive service already I would be using MOAB.
Its designed specifically to take advantage of the microSD card slot for the smaller form factor devices such as the hex (of which I have two) but now using
the RB450gx4.

@mkx I already do that, saving the config to disk1 but the running config lives on the flash disk, so I cannot use big configs with many lines which is mine because of these blacklists.

Is there any way to use USB or SD card to store the running config, which the router load at the startup?
