I would like to have my Multi-radio RouterBoards (5 radios) run on Batteries that are continuously charged. I have 2 kinds of POE injectors for my units, ones that have two piece POE injectors and some that are a one peice POE injector. A while ago MikroTik support told me that the two peice POE injector did not put out enough power in order to power the multiport routerboards and that the one peice routerboards should be used instead. My questions are:

If I fed 48v into the injector of the 2 peice POE injector would the multipoint boards run reliably at 350' of ethernet? I.e. Is the power problem in the brick or the injector in the POE injector?

If I fed 48v directly into the blues and browns of the ethernet cable what would happen to the routerboard?

If I have to use the one peice POE injector for the multi-radio routerboards, what would be the best approach to have them run on 48v or 24v powersupplies?

We should have the new RB52 with 25W ability in the next four weeks I hope.

You can try to wire the 48V directly -- I don't know if it will work, but it will not hurt the board.

My experience has been good using the standard PoE injector shipped with the routerboards (as of a month or so ago) at 24vdc (24-28) off batteries.

If youi put a full load on the radios -- bandwidth test through them, then the power usage may be higher than 802.3af and the controller chip in the POE injector may cut the power and then start again. So, at worst you will have a power cycle.
