DHCP on VLAN issues

Mon Apr 29, 2019 7:49 am

Hi,

I have RB 1100 set up with multiple DHCP servers and VLANs, 2 UniFi NanoHD different floors and a UniFi Mesh outside they are connected too RB1100 via UniFi Though Switch (POE).

For the WiFi I hat 2 SSID (2,4G and 5) one for the house (VLAN 125) and one for guest (VLAN 150), when setting up IOT it gave a lot of issues with the 2,4 and 5 Ghz so I created and extra SSID 2,4 Ghz (VLAN 80), I added the DHCP server etc. to the VLAN - its the UniFi devices which is tagging.

I have around 30 WiFi and 10 wired clients at the moment, the above is overkill but its good fun.

But I am experiencing some on/off issues with the DHCP on the new Network segment 192.168.5.1/24 for IOT, from time to time they loose connectivity, in the UniFi Controller I can see the client failing is connected but doesn't have an IP, I then try to connect the SSID with my phone or iPad booth of them fails, I can see in UniFi controller they are connected but phone doesn't get an IP and the iPad have APIPA, and then 5-30 minutes later it works.

I have looked at the "Interface List" and there is only a little traffic, and with torch I can see something is happening when I connect.

But how should I proceed if I want to know why I am experiencing issues - as I am writing this, my phone got an IP after I connected for the 6th time
