HotSpot and VLANs

Mon Jan 24, 2005 3:52 pm

Hello All,

We are looking at using RouterOS as a backup device for our MTU projects. At present, we use Nomadix USGs to manage traffic. One of the features of the USGs that we are looking to replicate is the ability to have different 'portals' for different VLANs.

We have looked at the documentation fairly carefully and have not managed to come up with any mechanism to pass details of the VLAN that traffic is being received on to the HotSpot pages (and in turn on to our application servers....)

Can anyone suggest anyway in which the VLAN ID from a 802.1q tag can be passed to the HotSpot pages?

Any help most gratefully received!

Thanks

Jon

v2.9 has all of that for radius. Documentation will be slowly coming. The beta 12 should be up today with the new hotspot.

Hello again,

Thanks for the help. We have installed the 2.9beta on our test box and the new features look great.

Am I right in thinking that the only way to identify each separate VLAN and pass this information to our portal server is to set up different VLAN interfaces on RouterOS and to set up different HotSpot servers for each?

Thanks for the ongoing help everyone

Regards

Jon
