WISP looking to add Audience to existing customers

Tue Nov 19, 2019 7:57 pm

Hello,

We have customers using wireless RB4011 routers and we want to further extend wireless coverage throughout their building. Of course, we have customers using other Mikrotik's as their "main" router as well.

So, what is the best way to connect the RB4011 wirelessly to an Audience that we will place a good distance away from the 4011. Does the Audience have an auto-connect mode (similar to other WiFi extenders) to automatically connect into the 5Ghz side of the RB4011 (or other Mikrotik with 5 Ghz)? I have read all the documentation and don't quite see how this is expected to be setup.

OR.... is the Audience (or multiple Audiences) supposed to completely replace everything the customer uses for WiFi? OR, do we put in a really basic router as the main, then just connect the Audience? I am hesitant to use Audience as the main router as we all too frequently lose Ethernet ports on the radio facing port on our regular Mikrotik, and don't want that to happen to the Audience.

Looking for some solid practical advice on how to use these for customers.

Thanks!
Paul

Is there anybody here who can shed light on this?

cAP AC is cheaper and you can get enough throughput. Now if the problem is not the price/costs you can choose Audience.

Regards.
