Can I Use Characters To Hide Data

Fri Jun 01, 2007 7:17 pm

I am trying to use usermanager for MAC authentication. Because I cannot search users by thier private information, I am wondering if I can use a wild card in the username before the MAC address.

Something like this: //jim bob// 00:99:88:77:66:55:44

That way I can keep track of my users and search them quickly.

Any Info would be appreciated.

Has this feature been implemented yet, and I am missing it?

I am getting ready to add my customers to usermanager and use the Mac auth funtion, however i cannot search by their name or address or anything other than mac address. So this will force me to have a seperate database of customers and their equipment mac address's. Very cumbersome, when a customer calls in with an issue and you go to pull up their equpiment.
Right now I have nothing on the AP that shows their name, just their mac address.
I have no way of searching the usermanager except by mac address, unless I want to jump into a terminal session and use the CLI to pull the information. (/tool usermanager ... etc)
Then the hardest part will be once I find their information, what AP are they located on?
I can find the IP of the router, but it is listed by IP not "common name" so I have to yet again look up in another table or database which IP goes to which AP. Can this be listed by DNS name or an alias name or comment instead.

If this feature is not currently available, Then I would like to request this for a future version.
If it is can someone please explain how they do this...

Otherwise this is a GREAT product and THANK YOU for your work on it

we are working on a new, reworked version of UM which will have a lot of new features in it, but it's not ready for public testing yet.

AHH! Great news! Thank you for a quick update!
If I begin using the current version of User Manager, will the data automagically move across to the new usermanager when it is realeased?
Or, should i wait for the new one before i move to this permanently?

Again... Great work Mikrotik! THANKS!
