New Network Config Help

Thu Jan 02, 2020 4:32 am

Hey everyone, new to Mikrotik, made a post a few days ago but ran into some more issues and was hoping for further help. Currently I am running pfSense as my router, with four VLANs out of the LAN port. I have the LAN connected to a CRS305-1g-4s+ on ether1, then I am going to have a CRS326-24G-2S+ and a CRS328 (the POE switch) as well connected, I dont have the 328 yet.

I believe I was able to set up the trunk properly on the 305, ether1. I created the 4 vlans on ether1 in the interfaces section. Then in the bridge window, I create a 'bridge-trunk' bridge, and then assigned sfp-sfpplus1 port to that bridge as well as all four vlans. Doing this, the switch was able to get an IP from the pfSense box, randomly on vlan40 for some reason. (both switches are in bridge mode). I noticed once I got the IP, ether1 auto-joined the same bridge.

From there I connected CRS326 sfpplus1 to sfpplus1 on CRS305. I did the same config, created all 4 vlans on the sfpplus1 port on the CRS326. I was able to get an IP, strangely on the LAN network, not any of the VLANs. From there, I created a bridge for vlan10, assigned ether2 and vlan10 to the bridge and hooked up my PC. I was able to get an IP but also very weirdly from the LAN net even though I assigned it to VLAN10 (192.168.10.1). I noticed that sfpplus1 also auto-joined a bridge without me doing so.

I was unable to ping the pfsense box from my PC, and from the pfsense box, I was only able to ping the first switch in line, the CRS305, which was somehow on VLAN40.
Things I know I need to do is assign both switches different IPs, on the LAN. But I am not understanding why setting a bridge to have ether2, and vlan10 on it, then gets the LAN net address.

LAN: 192.168.1.1
VLAN10: 192.168.10.1
VLAN20: 192.168.20.1
VLAN30: 192.168.30.1
VLAN40: 192.168.40.1
