No, something does not sound right here, especially if you say you had the same problem recently on a 260
I could not agree more...
Me too!!!!
Now, I have recovered my previous working LAN setup. I'm on full fibre network and I still have a wife and kid. If you are curious to understand what the hell went wrong, I will try to detail how I got to where I am. I don't understand it myself, so, if you can, please share it with me.
1) I managed to get my hands on a hatefull windows laptop from my neighbor. I switched off the wifi on the W7 laptop and connected the ONE ethernet cable from the hexS to it (not ether1 neither 5).
2) Surprise, I could not get a connection to the router. Not using dhcp or setting up manually ip address, mask and gateway.
3) I did the same old connection to my macbook in order to recover the previous situation, where, may I remind you, I could get a connection, I just could not login.
4) No possible connection to the router using my macbook!!!! (no web, no ping!)
5) Windows laptop again.....
6) Macbook laptop again.....
7) New hexS reset....
8 ) Macbook laptop again.....
9) Windows laptop again.....
10) New hexS reset....
......
.......
20) or 30) New hexS reset....
21) or 31) Immediate connection to macbook without asking for login/pass.....
22) or 32) upload of my hexS configuration backup.
23) or 33) Full power network as usual!!!!
24) or 34) Returning the windows laptop and explaining to my neighbor, not as convincingly as usual, why I still believe he should buy a mac.....
25) or 35) Realizing I have learned absolutely nothing from this unpleasant experience......
Although my problem is solved, even if I don't know why or how, I would like to keep this thread open, at least until I can tell of my future adventures (tomorrow or the day after!) on recovering the user/pass to my 260.... I suspect it is related to my hexS problem and it will just take enough resets......
I obviously remain fully open to questions about my setup, about my sanity, about whatever you, the kind people that tried to help me, may have....
thanks
