I work for a WISP and we currently have public networks sub-netted all over and we're running low on public IPs. I plan on switching the network to Mikrotik from Cisco, having larger /22 or so sized subnets and giving sites access to them by using MPLS/VPLS. It sound like this is becoming more popular.
I'm trying to see which hardware I should get for this project. So far I plan on using CRS328-24P-4S+RM on sites where I need POE and CRS326-24G-2S+RM on sites where I don't. I plan on having all of the public gateways back on 1 router back at our DIA and terminating the VPLS tunnels there. What router should I use there? We have 1 /20, 1 /23, and 1,22 that I plan on breaking up into 5 /22's and 1 /23. We currently have about 2.4Gbps of traffic that it would need to route, but I would like to plan for 5-10Gbps. I was looking at the CCR1036-8G-2S+.
I have a separate DHCP server that I was going to have the new router relay to but I might also have that router just do DHCP if that ends up making more sense.
Also, if anyone has done something like this recently and has any advice, that would be great. I'll probably create a couple different threads for design questions later.
Thank you.
